I am Ashish Kumar Das from Bangladesh, currently pursuing my PhD in Environmental Science since Spring 2022. Under the guidance of Professor Dr. Lide Chen, my research focuses on nutrient removal and recovery from dairy wastewater using electrochemical treatment. I aim to efficiently remove and recover nitrogen and phosphorous, transforming them into value-added products. This approach prevents environmental pollution by ensuring zero pollutants discharge into surface water bodies. Employing various electrodes for electro-oxidation enhances nutrient removal efficiency. The recovered nutrients serve as a global demand for eco-friendly fertilizers, reducing the hazardous effects of chemical fertilizers to the environment. My choice of this method lies in its eco-friendliness, ensuring a clean approach with high contaminants degradation efficiency in treating dairy effluents.

I am passionate about becoming a cutting-edge researcher in the waste management field. My future goal is to apply novel advanced electrochemical oxidation techniques to recover nutrients from waste materials. These recovered nutrients can then be transformed into value-added products that contribute to increasing agricultural yield. The field of waste management offers a vast array of opportunities to address environmental challenges and create sustainable solutions. By leveraging advanced electrochemical oxidation techniques, I aim to develop innovative methods for extracting valuable resources from waste streams. This not only helps in reducing environmental pollution but also creates avenues for utilizing waste as a valuable resource. Furthermore, my aspirations extend to working on global climate change issues. Waste management is intricately linked to climate change, and innovative approaches in this field can play a crucial role in mitigating environmental impacts. By developing sustainable waste management strategies and contributing to the circular economy, I aim to address climate change challenges at both local and global levels.
