I am currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Applied Economics, with a focus on optimal composting practices within the dairy industry. Under the guidance of my Principal Investigator, Prof Jason Winfree, I am actively involved in a project that seeks to estimate the price for dairy compost manure. The primary objective is to determine whether composting manure is economically viable and to evaluate the impact of subsidies on mitigating negative externalities associated with unsold compost manure. This research delves into the intersection of agricultural economics and environmental sustainability, aiming to provide insights into optimal practices for both economic and ecological benefits. My career aspirations are deeply influenced by my engagement in this project. I aspire to channel my expertise towards the dairy industry, specifically focusing on manure management and striving for zero emissions from dairy cattle.
The knowledge and skills acquired through my Master’s program and research involvement will be instrumental in implementing sustainable and efficient practices within the dairy sector. I am passionate about contributing to the development of environmentally friendly solutions that not only enhance the economic viability of the dairy industry but also promote ecological responsibility. Ultimately, my goal is to be at the forefront of advancements in dairy industry practices, playing a pivotal role in shaping a sustainable future for this crucial sector.
